MEKONG CRUISE WITH HOMESTAY (2 DAYS)

Itinerary:

This tour takes two days and one night.

A lengthy cruise (around 45km on the Mekong river) travels down narrow waterways to remote villages.

Day 1: Sai Gon to My Tho to Cai Be (Lunch, dinner)

We departing at 07:30 AM and head south to My Tho. Arriving at around 09:30 AM, we board our vessel , the "Southern Peace" for a journey to Ben Tre island. Following our arrival, we walk to a farmer house where we experience farm life and sample seasonal tropical fruits (such as longan, rambutan and mango). We then board sampans and paddle down small waterway. Returning to our boat, we cruise on the mekong upstream to Cai Be (40km away, its location is denoted by the blue dot on the map to the right). Enroute, we have lunch and relax.

Late in the afternoon, we arrive at the floating-market town of Cai Be. Disembarking, we walk along the canal to our homestay where we will overnight. We will then either have free time to explore the village or, optionally, our chef will teach you how to prepare a traditional meal with.

Day 2: Cai Be to Can Tho to Sai Gon (Breakfast, lunch)

Early in the morning we head in our bus 1.5 hours to CanTho where we take a boat trip to the Cai Rang floating market. We then cruise down small canals to Phong Dien market. Enroute, we take in the magnificent scenery and watch local life ensue. In the afternoon we head back to Sai gon where we arrive at around 5:00 PM.

Please note that a homestay in mekong delta differs from a homestay in northern Vietnam, where you stay in a hill tribe-style stilt house. Here you will stay inside a local house or sleep out in a garden (where the air is cooler). Expect meals to be served independently from family meals.

One of our homestay in Cai Be town (which has a private a/c rooms). Another is set on an island near Vinh Long (fan room with shared bath only). This homestay need extra requires transfer via a skiff. Please check with our sales representatives for more details. Thanks.
